Late, great Philip's candy store

When Philip's, the Coney Island institution was closing due to an MTA project a year ago, the owner promised to relocate. Does anyone know if he has? His name is John Dorman, so the place--if it exists--may be in his name.

John is open in of all places Staten Island. He still works every day and has great spirit. Please support him he is one of the only parts left of the old CI.

All types of chocolate dipped fruit, my favorite is the vanilla egg cream. My normal buy is sweetish fish and sesame seed honey crunch. With this place you could make a great Disert dish for a party.

Yes, this Staten Island location is Philips' new place. Never been to the Coney Island shop myself -- I was just looking for chocolates here on SI, and came across it. I go for the almond bark. The store has posted memorabilia from the newspapers and the Coney Island years.

Just following up on my own query, because I failed to put a "?" in the original subject.

I miss Philip's SO MUCH. I get a little sad every time I go to Coney now. Nothing much down there culinarily without Philip's around.

            Just saw your posting.

Me, too. What a loss. Still hoping he'll reopen and someone will let me know.
