Jewish Bakery in Boro Park? Pressed for time!

I tried to do a search on this but can't seem to find the post. Someone once recommended a very good bakery in the Boro Park section. I think near Mamomities Hospital. Does anyone know the name? During a doctor's visit the office put out a spread of their cookies and now I can't remember the bakeries name. Can anyone help? They had rugalach and little cheese danish, etc.

Thanks,
Denise

I use Dr. Kodsi and if he's your doctor, he puts out cookies from Weiss Bakery, 13th Ave and 50th Street.

Schick's Bakery is wonderful, but while we're on the topic, let me also give a shout out to Strauss Bakery in Boro Park, at 5115 13th Ave. Absolutely killer chocolate babka, about the best I've ever tasted. (And they cheerfully give free samples to my kids, which wins them big points.)

Do any of the above make a homemade rye bread?

Kaff's is probably what you mean...on Ft. Hamilton Parkway near 47th Street.

Schick's is also worth a try...49th Street off 13th Avenue.

and if you want some excellent old-time bagels, head over to the "Bagel Spot" on 14th Avenue and 43rd Street...the secret's out! They have fresh-baked challah on Friday mornings...I'm looking for feedback on these especially from classic bagel-loving 'hounds.

Thanks for the info and the tip on the challah. I might just go and try it out today.
