We ate at Tournelsol tonight located on Vernon between 50th and 51st on the west side of the street (located a few steps from the Vernon/Jackson subway stop on the #7 line). It was great!!! No opening night jitters. Every dish was marvelous. The 7 of us had carrot soup, scallops, and muscles as appetizers, roast chicken, duck breast, monkfish and cod for main courses, and they offered us fruit salad, a creme brulee and a tiramisu for dessert. Every dish was unbelieveable. The service was great. And the cost was very reasonable, with wine, dinner and tip it was $35 a head.

We are going back soon. To see their menu go to http://tornesolny.com/

Good for you for trying out this place on its opening night. But you got the web address wrong. See the link below. The site is incomplete, but does include the menu.

My friend Johnny (an avid Chowhound) turned me on to this place, and four of us went a few nights after it opened. SUPERB. We were all impressed, especially by the steak, which was the best I've had in a long while. Our server confided to us that it is the exact same steak (same cut, vendor, etc.) that is being served at Artisanal in Manhattan, but at half the price! Really, an all around great meal. Small wine list, but perfectly fine. Very close to the 7 train. It was nice to get away from Smith St. for a night, and worth the trip from Boerum Hill.

Ate there again last night. I like the wine list. It is very reasonably priced. In addition, as an apperitif, you can get an exilent kir royale. For dessert a glass of muscat or a glass of "orange wine" that the owner makes.

We have eaten there three times already and the food has been consistantly excellent. In addition, it is now open for lunch.

P.S. It was nearly full on a Thursday night. Not bad for a place that has been open less than two weeks and has not advertised.
