For "Indian"/Pakistani, try Bukhara or Swad. There is also an Afghan Kebab House.

Also Behar, an Afghan restaurant that is delicious. It is on Coney Island Avenue (CIA) across from Newkirk Avenue.

I hear Toucan on CIA is good too, but I haven't tried it as yet.

You can take a drive down CIA near Avenue T and U to Sahara for great kebabs and chopped salad with feta not to mention the wonderful eggplant spread, not babaganoush!, and the breads. Also, there are some good Chinese restaurants on Avenue U between CIA and Ocean Avenue.

Last, but certainly not least, have a snack of DiFara's pizza on Avenue J.

Thanks - we ended up having a very good dinner at Bahar. The ashak (steamed scallion dumplings with mint yogurt sauce) and narieng palow (lamb kebab with basmati rice seasoned with ornage peels, saffron, almonds and pistachios) were especially good. The bread was only mediocre and the food was too sweet overall for my taste, but we all enjoyed our meal anyway.

Sorry...I should have posted particular dishes at Bahar that are good. I definitely agree about the bread btw. FEH! Especially once you have the bread at Sahara.

There is an eggplant appetizer with a tomato and yogurt sauce that is totally sublime. Also pumpking fritters (fried) are delicious. The braised leg of lamb off the bone with spinach over rice is not to be missed. Personally I think those are the best dishes there. The biryani is also good and many of the vegetables. I guess I have to go exploring more.

Hope you are enjoying the nabe!
