Can someone recommend a good fruit shop in south Slope/Windsor Terrace. It seems like the only good places are on the north end near Flatbush. Please prove me wrong.

not necessarily very good, but pretty big and very inexpensive is a place on the coner of 5th ave. and 15th street. they usually have just about everything, a lot of good tropical stuff, since the crowd is a little different from the other parts of the slope. windsor terrace is a waste land for produce, i usually schlep down the the coop on union.

I lived right around the corner from this place. I found the fruit there cheap, but cheap for a reason. It was almost always ripe or overripe, and I didn't like the way they left it out by the sidewalk. A much better alternative, in my opinion, is Young's, a similar fruit/veg store on 5th ave between 14th and 15th. The market on 5th ave. between 8th and 9th I've found dissapointing as well. C-town is ok, but Young's is better. And if you are in the neighborhood, don't forget to check out Eagle Provisions at about 18th street... fruit and veg nothing special, but meats there are really good...
