Long Island Bar & Restaurant

We read about the Long Island Bar & Restaurant on this board and tried to visit it last Saturday. They were closed - I found out today it was because they were closed for the entire month of August when they all go to visit family in Spain.

There is a sign behind the bar that says: "The Sulivans - Emma and Buddy." Emma was tending bar today and we had a very nice visit with her. I believe she said the LIB&R has been there since 1951 and she's been there since 1954. It's always been in the family. It is a beautiful, gleaming and spotless throwback to a time that for the most part is no longer around.

We had a couple of beers and shared a burger with fries. The burger was most defintely not frozen pre-fab and neither were the fries.

Emma was very charming and it was such a pleasure to visit with her.

The Chowhounds Board scores again! Thanks for a great recommendation!
