Persian is the most erotic food in the world. I noted that all the posts here about Persian appeared in 1999 which is ancient history as far as ethnic restaurants are concerned. Surely there is a Parsi neighborhood somewhere in NYC. Have any of the Persian posters from 1999 tried the mentioned NYC restaurants lately? Has anyone been looking for restaurants to add to the list? I ate at the Kabul Cafe this summer and was uninspired though it was good to get a hint of Persian again. The best Persian I've had to date was in Houston. It looked like a belly dance joint but the partridge legs with orange zest polow were etherial. It was the only world class anything in Houston so I considered the evening a moment of divine grace. Is it my imagination or are there a rash of Persian/Jewish joints turning up in the major cities?

Great Neck (NW Nassau) & Bayside (NE Queens).

Great Neck is home to NY's Persian Jewish community, so I think there are quite a few Persian restauarants in the area. I think I recall two: Patoug's off the LIE at Springfield Blvd, and the Persian Tea Room off the LIE at Marathon Pkwy/Little Neck Pkwy (I may be mistaken on the names).
