Yes, in fact it was a diner by the name of Andre's. I believe Andre's must be closed for at least 10 years of so.

Andre's Hungarian is no longer occupying the corner store at 67th Ave. and Queens Blvd. They were known for their pastries, specifically their strudel. Knish Nosh now occupies the premises having made the journey across 67th Ave. I am not sure if Andre's had a connection to the diner but always assumed that there was some kind of common thread there.

Andre's was not the corner store. The corner store was the kosher meat store (Lazar's) which reduced itself to a single storefront, giving up the corner to Knish Nosh. Andre's is the tiny, 1/2-sized store on the other side of the meat market and is still there (awesome strudel, hard to pick betw. cherry or cheese, get BOTH!! - and, in the am, when the cheese puffs are really fresh, they are great - similar, not-to-sweet cheese filling to the strudel). They used to have a cafe on that block before 71st Ave/Continental near the mediocre latino, diner, and tex-mex places are...don't know if they still do, though...

And, personally, I live about 3 blocks from Knish Nosh and I go to Mrs. Stahl's in Brooklyn (Brighton Beach at the end of Coney Isl. Ave under the el station) for my knishes - worth the traffic on the Belt...and then you can go up COney Isl. Ave for bialys [betw. Aves. U and T]...and then...well, you get the idea...these are the BEST knishes, way better than KN's IMHO...
