Pete's Downtown in Brooklyn?

RonW Apr 24, 2001 04:54 PM

Has anyone tried this restaurant under the Brooklyn Bridge on Water Street? I came across it the last time I was at Grimaldi's Pizza which is only a few doors up the street. I picked up a menu which shows mainly Italian dishes.

The view of Manhattan and the bridge is awesome at that location and I was just wondering if the food measured up. I tried a search, but didn't come up with anything.

Pete's actually had that nice neighborhood Italian restaurant vibe I have been often disappointed to not experience in restaurants aroung CG/CH. My boyfriend and I had lunch there on a late summer Sunday and dinner there a couple weeks back and the food and the service were lovely both times. They serve a potato cup -- chips holding twice-baked mashed, mmmm! -- with fish and meat entrees that I WISH! you could order a couple of as a main course; otherwise, it's nicely prepared if not esp. adventurous fare. The tables are a litle closely spaced, so I might keep going there at times I didn't expect would be crowded -- again, Sunday lunch was esp. nice, the Mets were on the bar TV, and the day had cooled down enuf by the time we finished chowing that a walk along the piers was a perfect finish. I think you should definitely give it a try!
