slow food in brooklyn, nyc

hiya!i'm becoming more interested in the slow food movement. ( anyone know the restaurants/chefs in brooklyn or nyc most closely associated with slow food?is anyone here a member? been to their chow events? what's it like? worth the $60? i kinda liked the recent newsletter i saw from the new york branch, with a nice ode to pickles on the Lower East Side.all insights, hints, references, experiences appreciated!tia,fortune

    I'm a chef and culinary instructor at Peter Kump's, I'm pretty involved with NY slow food. I've participated in some events, in and out of town. It's fun, and very educational. Also, the people involved tend to be creative, interesting types.
