Chip Shop running out!

Philip Mar 5, 2001 12:10 PM

As an Englishman in New York I can say this:
I fell over laughing when I saw a posting saying that the new Chip Shop in Park Slope had "run out of food"! How very British! We've come a long way from the days when we ran half the planet! It reminds me of the Yorkshire expression "Couldn't organize a booze-up [the original uses a blunter word] in a brewery!", which I apply to us Brits as a whole these days. In any event, I'm thrilled to be able to get mushy peas and chips with vinegar! I wish the place great success, and look forward to postings on its food ...

Just wondering if anyone has had real brit fish and chips. I mean the stuff that's reminiscent of having grub on the way to a Spurs v. Arsenal football match played on a cold and rainy saturday afternoon. I know there are people out there who know what I'm talking about (by the way I hate both Spurs and Arsenal). I'm also interested in cornish pasties and minced beef and onion pies.
