To my surprise, I had pretty good gingerbread tonight in Jackson Heights. Bought it from the butcher shop/ Ecuadorean products shop next door to La Boina Roja steakhouse.
It's on the south side of 37th Ave., in between 80th and 81st. The restaurant (nothing great except their rice and beans, which I think are the best Colombian rice and beans in the neighborhood) is on the corner, the butcher shop is next door. Not a great butcher shop but they sell excellent red beans, the ones used in the restaurant, I think they are called cartagenas, and good gingerbread.
