The Crepe Factory on Smith St. is open for business. Has anyone tried it yet? It looks pretty nice - I did the peer in the windows thing on Saturday as I walked by on my way up to Joe's (sigh - how I love thee) on Court Street. Planning on trying it tomorrow or Wednesday...we'll see.
Moving along, I'm really fond of the Smith St. Bar at Smith and Sackett. Definitely the best bar in the immediate area, although I realize that's not saying anything considering how pathetic the competition is. Still...I'm very grateful for it.

Does the Smith St. Bar serve food? What's the ambience like? There was supposed to be a new pub opening on Smith. Any info?

Bar (I think this is the name?) does not have food. It is a comfortable setting with some colored christmas lights, pleasant bar, and little retroish tables. I bet this will be great when it warms up and they have an indoor/outdoor thing.

The pub - I think you mean Angry Wades - is a little further toward/into Cobble Hill - DeGraw and Smith I think. I like it - was there last night for a bit. It looks a little more lived in than it did when it first opened but all the wood, stained glass and leather make it look a little like the owner was trying too hard to make it look like the perfect cozy Irish-type bar. I also wish they had burgers or some appetizers or something, but no kitchen so far.

I was expecting a better tap list at Angry Wade's, but it's mostly the usual suspects plus a few extra Brooklyn handles. Sweet Melissa's is so special that I expected something UNUSUAL from the angry hubby.

My family and I tried the Crepe Factory last weekend. Not very good. Crepes themselves are rather dry and fillings we had were not special. I don't think it's going to make it. Biggest disappointment on Smith St. so far.

We found the food and atmosphere extremely disappointing. I don't think it was because we were the only ones there on a weeknight (the waiter kept assuring us it was "packed" on the weekends) but the food was poorly prepared (it didn't help to watch the chef barely stay awake as he slopped on the clearly canned sauces) and the crepes were rubbery. I know it may sound like heresy but we found the crepes at Le Gamin near the Brooklyn Bridge much better.
