I have tickets to a Saturday night event at Brooklyn College and am looking for a nice place to eat - good food and some ambiance.

There's a real good Guianian (sp?) place right across the street from BC, next to the #2 subway station.

If it's ambience you're after, you're pretty much out of luck in that nabe. My favorite chow, however, is the Haitian stuff at Yo-yo-Fritaille (1758 Nostrand Avenue, 718-469-7460), which has the best griyo (fried marinated pork) and taso (sun dried beef) in town, sided with great rice and peas. Up Flatbush from BC is a wealth of Jamaican, Guyanese, and Trinidadian establishments with good food, but little variation in quality and hence recommendability. Good luck! (What are the tickets for?)

That would be Guyanese, but I'd love to know the name, as I'm at BC every Saturday. (I hope you don't mean Golden Krusts. It's my standby place for cheap and quite acceptable chicken or vegetable patties, but it's really just a good chain, not a great dining experience.)
