Get off the Smith Street trail for goo-oo-ood, Sur-quality cuisine at much more moderate prices...
T'Moon: this place took over the space occupied by the Italian bakery that was used in filming Nicholas Cage's scenes in "Moonstruck" (the former Cammareri Bakery) Henry and Sackett Sts. Just opened in November, it's smallish -- 8 tables --but big portions, well-designed selections, great appetizers and soups. Chef may be Argentiaian or vaguely South American, lotsa meat, def. not for the grazers among us. No liquor yet, so you can bring a bottle and get out of three courses for $40.00 for two. And you will lifted to the next gustatory plane, well above above Harvest et al on Court, and above many of the new Smith St. places. Worthy as they are, this one's also a bargain! I've been to all of 'em and T'Moon is the winner by a the two lengths of rigatoni and ten bucks.
The only compromise is that you have to walk down to Sackett three blocks West off Court, and four off Smith -- so it's a bit out of the way (but just a block from my house). T'Moon has offered only one menu offered so far, but it is batting .995 (the only waiter is short on English) -- don't dismiss that pork chop, or the T'Moon salad. Spectacular coconut cake!
Closed Sunday and Monday; takes cards, quiet and intimate. Not an eating "scene" .. yet. Go while you still can say, "Oh, I've already been there..." You'll go back.
T'Moon has a takeout area which seems to rotate the menu daily on a pasta and fish and a meat dish.
