Diner Ecstacy Near the Staten Island Landfill

  • j

I found the most wonderful hash browns tonight, in a
great diner right near the Outerbridge Crossing in
Staten Island.

  1. Would love to know where this place is, and if it still exists.

    1. Me too! The link is broken or defunct so can't research it myself.

      1. Hope we find out; I'm going to a wedding on Staten Island next weekend, and I seem to remember this catering hall not having the greatest eats.

This was likely one of Leff's long-defunct "what's for dinner" features on the old Chowhound.

We ended up at the appropriately named Staten Island Diner where I had a very respectable "sloppy breakfast", which is apparently a Staten Island thing. Sausage, eggs, potatoes, peppers, etc. Cooked into a layer of crispy cheddar.

Aiyee! Think I'll stick with fried eggs and hash browns (and an eggcream), if they have them ;-)

        2. Point of order: we don't call it "the landfill" any more; it's now Fresh Kills Park. :)

Lived on SI for 30 years, and I am still looking for a great breakfast place.
