Anyone Know IL (or is it LA) Traviata in Brooklyn Heights?

I passes by a stark looking place in Brooklyn Heights
that is not on Montague (it was Pierrepont or
Joralemon). The menu looked interesting - someone out
there must know the place.

I've only ordered delivery but I think it's pretty good red-sauce italian. The pastas are always a little overcooked, but they taste great. It's also a great value. You always get a large salad and tons of bread with your order. Love the soups too during the winter.

The surprise is really their pizza which is better than most of the other standard neighborhood delivery options.

We like La Traviata for good, reliable, local Italian food.

The Joralemon Street location is now closed. They lost their lease. The space will be demolished for Condos.

The food is good, very fresh, and the prices are very reasonable.

      superior to Armando's.

This is not, for some reason, a restaurant that is frequented by local residents. They get a crowd that one never sees in other Heights restaurants.

They can put a long table together in the center that will seat 20 people. There are often families and large groups, and they seem to have a great time.

Oh, that's wonderful news. Yet more commercial space being eliminated for residential use (which, of course, there's not enough of in Brooklyn Heights). One wonders how, in time, the needs of residents will be met when all of the businesses are forced out by ridiculous rents and lack of actual commercial property. I mean, everyone has cars and can just drive to downtown Brooklyn or Carroll Gardens for a quart of milk, right?

It is a good neighborhood place, with good
price/value, large portions and a fine place to take
kids. Service was quick and friendly. They do a big
delivery business in pizza and other items. Worth
going to if you're in the neighborhood, but not really
        a "destination".

I also agree that it is not really a destination but good solid big portioned food if your in the area that is great for kids. Family friendly basic reliable not spectacular Italian.

I beg to differ. I live in Midtown and head into the Heights on the BMT once in a while for the sole purpose of picking up one of La Traviata's portobello pies to go (an option now only available at the Joralemon St. store), and I might point out that I get a ton of "that smells GREAT" on the way home. Fantastic!! Fresh mozz, lots of fresh garlic, drizzled with olive oil...it's also a gorgeous pie. The only small complaint I have is that the crust (which is semolina and nicely dusted with corn meal) could be a tad crisper. Instruct whoever takes your order to make SURE to use only fresh mozzarella because for some reason of late they're likely to combine it with pizza mozz (good quality but I only like fresh, plus it lessens the impact of this pie). And no, the fresh isn't buffalo like DiFara, but I like the pie just as much, plus I don't have to take the train to ur-Brooklyn to get it.
They also have really nice heros, some of which are suitable for vegetarians. I'm told that the soup is "eh." The chocolate mousse they used to get years back was a lot better than what's available now--this is rather anemic, run-of-the-mill made-elsewhere mousse whereas the other stuff was intensely dark and rich and nearly restaurant-quality. A few minor disappointments, but that portobello pie is fantastic!

La Traviata is on Montague Street, but they also
recently opened a second location on Remsen or
            Joralemon, near Clinton Street

La Traviata is good, solid, dependable Drunk Food. I have never had their chow sober, and have no inclination to ever do so. Their neighbor, Mr. Souvlaki, is also Good Drunk Food. However, Mr. S can be consumed sober without fear.
