st. michel is my favorite bay ridge restaurant. 3rd
avenue, i think. french. really great food.

    2. Middle eastern is what I know - Sally's place on 3rd
ave in the 70s (east side) is a comfortable, pleasant
spot with very good lebanese food, ample servings good
for sharing, good baklava - Food is not quite at the
level in taste of Karam 4th between 86-85 but Karam is
formica and mostly takeout, wind blowing in the door,
paper plates, platic forks. People make great meals
at Karam, I watched a fellow eat his way
systematically and elegantly through a civilized
evening meal of fried fishes, baba ganough, a pile of
pitas, etc. with his hands, but there are only two
tables and its a crapshoot whether one will be
available. Also, they don't make turkish coffee and
we found the baklava too dry. If you go though, check
out the Chowhound review on the door for special
recommendations. There are also a bunch of places down
there with valet parkers, the whole outer brooklyn
date scene, Embers, Arirang etc.if that is of
      interest.

      1. what place did you settle on? There have been new placesthat just opened up. Chef Natale on 79 th ad 3 rd. Food is ok to good. I have to say that I had a simple fresh tomato saucewith spinach gnocchi`s. The sauce was the best I ever had in my life and as usual not the same when I went back. A up scasle greek rest. on 87th and third have yet to try but heard good things. Across the street is Maswahi grill sort of a franchise middle easteren not good. ate there with arab friends several times and some dishes tasted rancid, some lacked flavor. Up the block is Pacific Rim, asian cuisine, heard good things, Also a Russian nite club on 4th and 100 th where for 60 per person the food keeps coming and chilled shots included.THere are many rest. to choose from in bay ridge as thier are many differnt cuisines but unfortuantly they rarly take chances in what they serve . I wish they would be more innovative, creative, in the look of the place and especially the food. Any feed back?

        1. This is too late, I know, but my new favorite place to
eat in Bay Ridge is an Italian place in the lower 80s
on I think 4th called Areo. I had an absolutely
wonderful pasta dinner there with my family last month,
and was happy with the smart, friendly service and the
generally festive atmosphere of the place. There's
another good Italian place called 101, at 101st St and
3rd, which tries a little harder to be upscale but
          which is also quite good.

areo is on 85 and 3rd . The food is ok to good . It`s more of a scene , a drees up place seen and be seen. Have also seen a few fights break out. wannabes, real, and fake mobsters preen for attention at the bar, while teased up tomatas look to hook up. quite amusing but the place is pretty and the food good.101 on the other hand is abysmal.when it first opened the owners and chef cared abuot every detail. since they left the new people are wha t you wouldcall restuarateurs. they have let look cool hip look of the place go down hill as with the food. time and time again I was served overcooked underseasoned food until I stop going. soon people will figure it out.
