Visiting New York for first time, Wheres a good place to eat??

Jenna L. Feb 4, 1999 10:12 PM

Well the subject pretty much says it all. I'm going to
new york this summer and i want to know if there are
any really great places to eat that we should not
miss. I don't mean the really $$$$ ones, cause were
not super rich.

Jenna, there are almost 6000 messages on these boards discussing in exhaustive detail all sorts of "really great places to eat". If you could take a few hours to look through this motherlode of information, it'd save us from having to repeat stuff. In the unlikely event that you can't find a few hundred likely eateries, let us know in more detail what it is you crave.

I'd also suggest you take a look at the posting guidelines (use the link below)

Your question is really too broad to answer. If you
narrow down your interests (what part of town, what
sort of cuisine, what sort of style [i.e. big, noisy,
fun places; places that aim to please tourists; quiet
neighborhood joints you'd never know about, etc.] we
      can probably make some suggestions.

Or you can get a good guidebook. Zagat is reasonably
trustworthy in most parts of town. Jim's book is great
if you're feeling a little adventurous. "New York
Eats" is fun and gives you a taste of what life is like
