My coworker just emailed the following around our office, but I knew that the Chowhounds could solve this conundrum faster than anyone. Here it goes:

"my mom's 60th bday is on Memorial Day and I need to come up with ideas for her celebration. want to do somehing more fun than just brunch or dinner somewhere with my family (we're a group of 7, plus a 10month old.)

it's memorial day and a monday so lots of places are closed - broadway is dark.
checked out Jazz Standard at Blue Smoke but they dont have anything playing.

even the yanks are playing away!

any and all ideas are truly appreciated - from the silliy to the swanky!!!"

She would appreciate any ideas envolving food, maybe some good music too - if anyone has a suitable idea, let us know. They eat pretty much any type of cuisine, and live on the UWS, but will travel, no problem.

Thanks Chowhounds!
