Just started taking night classes at Lincoln Center and I am looking for some good eats in the neighborhood since I have never spent that much time north of 60th.

Most of the places are solid neighborhood places which are fine but you would not want to travel for. The ones I like are Rosa Mexicano, Cafe des Artists, Fiorello, Jean-George, and the places in the Time Warner Building - Asiate and Cafe Gray - have not been to Per Se but imagine that it is very good.

Thanks for the suggestions, but being that I am going up there for class twice a week I really do not have the time for Jean-Georges, Per Se's of the world.

Although there would be nothing more classic than having dinner at per se after a 8:0010:00 class.

I was looking for the more "chowhoundish" / everyday neighborhood places. Quick bowl of pasta, sushi, pizza, etc...

Thanks again I think Rosa Mexicana is on the radar

Ahh.... sorry, didn't know what you were after. Rosa Mexicano is not cheap - but their guacamole is excellent. Sushi A-go-go is decent, but again, not too cheap. My favorite cheap pizza place is nearby: La Traviata

http://www.menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp?restaurantid=1730

Indian - Sapphire
Malay - Penang
Japanese - Lenge & Dan's Tempura
Chinese - Wok City (better), Ollie's (more famous), Shun Lee (best, but expensive)
Italian - Pomodoro

There's a wrap place at 68th and Broadway - I am not into wraps but my gf thinks it's okay. Certainly very affordable.

A little farther up on 72nd is Burritoville and Taco Grill. Very good, cheap, basic Mexican. of course there is the Gray's Papaya there as well.
