My wife and I will be in the city over Memorial Day weekend and e're looking for a great place to eat on Monday night. We love Babbo but have eaten there on both of our most recent visits, so looking for similar quality but different venue. Suggestions much appreciated

  1. A Voce, the new Andrew Carmellini restaurant, would be my pick. Delicious food and first rate service. Maybe with the city emptied out, it won't be crowded so that the noise level, which can be nearly intolerable, will be reasonable. Better yet, by the end of May, they should be serving outdoors on their spacious terrace. If the weather is nice, that's where I would want to sit. The website is still under construction, but I presume that in the not-too-distant future, it will be functioning.

How about Battery Gardens - dine outside w/views of the Statue of Liberty in the back ground.

BG has good views, true, but the food is overpriced and mediocre. Don't go.

    2. Seafood! See if Esca is open.
