They have nice little chocolate dipped macaroons at Tralucci e Vino (sorry about the spelling) on 18th between 5th and Broadway. There's also one in the East Village.

I'm not a macaroon enthusiast, but people who are tell me that the ones at Once Upon a Tart on Sullivan between Prince and Houston are very good.

Unless you're willing to make them yourself (I like the recipe for pistachio macaroons in Nigella Lawson's "Domestic Goddess" book), just wait until your next trip to Paris.
Payard and Financier's are fine, but on the dry side because there is not enough demand to justify making a new batch each day. I haven't been able to try Bouchon's macaroons in TWC, but the ones from the Bouchon bakery in Yountville were just OK.
