Does anyone have any suggestions about good brands of veggie burgers and any restaurants to go to that have good veggie burgers and not just the run of the mill boca burger.
Thanks!

best veggie burger ive had in the city is at candle cafe on 3rd ave and 75th i think. if they had dairy cheese, then it wouldve been even better.

i really dig kate's joint's burger...with cheese and fries, its only $6.95 which is really crazy cheap. its also very good.

my favorite overall is bonnie's in park slope...

i just had kate's joint's one today for lunch. delicious. they tend be slow, though, so don't be in too much of a rush or you'll be frustrated.
i also like tiny's giant sandwiches 'big mack daddy' (or something like that) on the lower east side.

Although I'm not the expert on veggie burgers, I did try the veggie burger at Burger Heaven (number of locations in Midtown East), which was delicious and very big. Worth a try.

Pragers were available at COSTCO a few monthes ago and we have been enjoying them at home with a salad.

Also the garden burger brand is quite good but not sure where you get them these days.

Boca burgers are a good imitation of a cheap grilled burger taste. The other two described above don't taste anything like beef but have nice veggie flavor. Dr. Pragers tends to be a bit on the greasy side, so I like to blot them after cooking.

I like Gardenburgers the best of them all. They have them at most "regular" supermarkets -- Associated, etc.

Zen Palate makes two kinds of veggie burgers. The ones made with black mushrooms are excellent, and amazingly real burgerish. Goes great with yam tempura fries. This is coming from an orthodox omnivore.

Erika, for more information on specific brands, you should post your query to the general topics board

the shroom burger at shake shake is a delicious portobella mushroom with cheese on top, breaded and fried. it's not overwhelmingly greasy (despite that description) and is delicious.

The shroom burger is one of those very meaty mushroom things for vegetarians who miss meat. If you actually like veggies and don't like meat, you may not like this meaty mushroom!
