Does anyone have a good suggestion for a restaurant to throw someone a 30th Birthday dinner for approx. 10-15 people, $40 or less/person? I'm looking for a place that is good for groups, but not too loud or has a reasonably priced private room. Note: the guest of honor is a big foodie! Thanks.

I threw my husband's at 'inoteca. They have long tables in their wine cellar so you get the feeling of it being in a special room without paying the price for a private one. Everything is served family style and the food is great -- you can choose the menu beforehand with them -- and they let you bring in a cake without charging you a plating fee. It was wonderful.

i had my 30th at ping's in chinatown
they were really great about the whole thing
and while i don't usually gravitate towards the manhattan chinatown,
the crab with ginger and scallions was divine.
