Perhaps not all "sublime," but here are the desserts I've loved before:

Anything at Falai
Olive oil gelato at Otto
Old-fashioned cakes at Billy's
Mille crepes cake at Lady M
Banana tart at Payard
Souffle at La Grenouille and La Petite Auberge
On a good day, hot chocolate at City Bakery
Champagne truffles at Teuscher
Chocolate mousse at Eleven Madison Park
Warm chocolate cake (or was it called chocolate souffle?) at Bouley
Custard and concretes at Shake Shack
Chocolate lollipops at Thor
Banana cream pie at Red Cat
Hazelnut dacquoise at Bar Room at the Modern
White chocolate champagne cocktail at Michel Cluizel

I have a huge sweet tooth, so please do share if you come upon anything great yourself.

Shake Shack's currently closed for the winter, but their custards and smoothies are creamy and satisfying. Try Chocolate Bar, especially if you're a chocoholic, for anything chocolate. Billy's Bakery, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, Buttercup Bake Shop and Payard's if your wallet goes that deep. Enjoy!

My husband and I had dinner one night at 2nd avenue deli and wanted desert and finally found ChikaLicious. It's a gem of a spot, the size of a shoebox, there are long waits but worth the time. It is a 3 course desert with or without wine parings. The portions are small but tasty. It is on 10th street between 1st and 2nd avenue
