Brewing beer, curing meat, or making cheese? Get great advice

Where can I get a huge italian sub/hero sandwich for superbowl?

You know, an old school 6 foot italian sandwich. Something I can serve with beer and fritos. I live on the Lower East Side and someplace that delivers would be best. THANKS!

Definitely go to Parisi Bakery on Mott St between Spring and Kenmare. I buy the 3 foot heros for Christmas Parties for all the construction workers on the site. The 3 footer can feed 15 normal people or 10 construction workers. The chicken cutlet with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers or the Italian Hero are my favorite.

Try Faicco's Pork Store on Bleecker Street in the West Village. I don't know if they do the long 6ft heros, but their Italian Special hero is out of this world!

Ottomanelli Brothers on 82nd And York will deliver anywhere in Manhattan too. They make great sandwiches with any fillings you like -- Italian or American meats, any cheeses including a terrific fresh mozzarella, grilled chicken, grilled veggies, roasted peppers, and they use good bread. Also nice wings, chili, trays of ziti, chicken parm, etc. The guys in there are great, old-time NYC neighborhood type place. 212-772-7900

How 'bout Garden of Eden? I think they have this as an option on their catering menu??? Not really old school, but their regular deli sandwiches are pretty good...

Manganaro's is an invisible shadow of what it once was. Run far away.

unfortunately, parisi is not open on sundays. they recommended Hero Boy or Alleva. Has anyone heard of either of those two? Alleva was about 1/2 the price of parisi, which made me kind of nervous...

I called Manganaro's this morning -- they no longer make the extra long italian hero...they only put together sandwich platters. Not nearly as exciting...

Please recommend places in LES, Little Italy, etc.

I would check with Parisi's bakery on Mott--not sure if they do the six-foot sub thing or if they deliver, but they have awesome sandwiches so it's definitely worth seeing if they do.

Does anyone have any alternatives to Manganaro's in the same vicinity that delivers on Sundays? We've used them to cater our Super Bowl party for the past 2 years that we have at a Times Square hotel but was hoping to try another place for a couple of 3 foot heros plus salads, etc. Noticed a couple of postings about Luigi's on 8th and 55th. Any other suggestions? Appreciate your help.
