We have RW dinner reservations for Terrace in the Sky. Was not able to find much on the boards here other than another poster asking about RW, and people saying the view was amazing. But there are more than a few negative posts on Citysearch. Is it worthwhile? We live in the neighborhood so it's not like we're going far out of our way.

That's one reason I love RW. I used it to try Terrace in the Sky a year or two ago.

Very disappointing for me. The food wasn't particularly intersting, the restaurant seemed a bit shabby, and I felt cheated because I somehow conceived the idea that the view was of Central Park, which it wasn't. (Of course, at night, maybe lights would be more interesting.)

Anyway, I was pleased to try it, and pleased to try it inexpensively, but have no urge to return.

Thanks. Hmmm, now I'm not sure if we should keep the reservation. Any memorable items on the menu? Or is this just a case of an overhyped spot in an odd location?

I still think it's worth at least one visit. The view is of Morningside Park and the Upper West side and beyond (and north too like the GW bridge) which is still a lovely view. In warmer weather there's a gorgeous terrace to see the view even more. The atmosphere has an old fashioned preciously dowdy elegance to it (complete with harpist) which I still find charming even as a young person. I thought the food was very good, not blow my socks off innovative or super tasty but still solid and enjoyable modern French. Yes it's all a little old fashioned and slightly campy, but in its own way quite pleasant.

For what it's worth, my friend is getting married there in April. It was between Terrace and the Water Club. She and her fiance tried the food in both places and chose Terrace.
