Returning to NYC in a couple of weeks after a long time in California, where should i go for excellent beer selection now that blind tiger has closed? DBA will hit the spot but has anything new opened with a great tap/bottle selection? Will travel to any part of town.

Hop Devil opened up on St Marks near the park. Pretty good selection of English Ales and a separate Belgian Room - but the atmosphere isn't great. DBA is a more enjoyable place to spend a few hours.

Waterfront Ale house on 2nd Ave has a more limited but always interesting selection brews and the benefit of good food. The Texas Dip sandwich is one of my favorite things to eat in NYC.

Barcade in Brooklyn has about 20 microbrews on tap at all times and 20+ vintage video games for 25 cents a game. Spuyten Duyvil in the same neighborhood (East Williamsburg?) specializes in European Mircobrews. Large selection of British, Belgian and German beers and none from a corporate brewery - no Guinness, no Spaten, no Chimay. They also have organic cheeses and sausages available. Good stuff.

You might want to check out Jimmy's on E. 7th St. A relatively small (at least compared to dba or BT) but very interesting selection. Good no-nonsense food as well.

The best site I've seen that reviews places to find good craft beer is put out by Alex Hall, who also edits a newsletter called the Gotham Imbiber. The link is below. He keeps the site pretty up to date, and the newsletter will have the most up to date info on anything having to do with craft beer in nyc.

The only newish place I can think of that's opened recently has been Hop Devil Grill, but I dislike the atmosphere there a lot. The owners also run David Copperfield's, which I think has a much better vibe.
