NY cookie nostalgia

Can anyone remember the name of these cookies: they were the size of mallomars, but not enrobed in chocolate. Rather, a dome of puffy marshmallow covered in coconut flakes sat atop a circle of graham cracker type cookie. The marshmallow was colored either pink or white. I'm suffering a desperate craving.
Thank you in advance!

thanks. Snowballs, I think, are the larger pink Hostess treats where coconut-covered pink marshmallow encases a chocolate sponge cake. Delicious, but I'm thinking of cookies the same size and scale as mallomars.

OMG I was looking for those cookies too LOL. They were white and pink marshmallow with coconut on top. One place that has a lot of old-fashioned cookies and candy is the Vermont Country Catalog. I think i have the URL somewhere and will look it up or email them and who knows maybe we can track some down. :)

That should have been a reply to belly dancing. Sorry!

They were called Mallowpuffs...one of my favorites.....no longer made by Sunshine. There is a Mexican cookie on sale in Safeway in CA that is similar. I miss them truly.

Didn't Mallowpuffs have a chocolate covering? The OP states that what she is looking for did not have chocolate on it.

Actually Mallomars, still made, are chocolate covered marshmallow cookies with a hard graham cracker bottom. Mallowpuffs were indeed pink/white marshmallow covered with shredded white coconut and a soft graham bottom. They were delicious cold!

I think there is a cookie from New Zealand which call itself Mallowpuffs, but in fact are like the Nabisco Mallomar. Sunshine had the pink/white marshmallow covered in coconut. They discontinued them about 10 years ago.

That pink and white coconut covered marshmallow cookie is usually called an Apple Blossom north of the Border.

Yes. we have those Mexican made cookies here in CA....similar, but the Sunshine version was better in my opinion. Thanks for the update. Sunshine told me they stillown the recipe...who knows, maybe it will be back someday!

in fact, Nabisco made a similar version of the pink/white coconut cookie called Fancy Crests. Had then in NY in the 1950's, but think they did not sell as well as Mallowpuffs and disappeared. As I remember, they were pretty good.
