I went out with friends last night to North Beach for coffee and dessert at Cafe Puccini. When we left, I noticed that there was an anti-Michael Bauer poster hanging in the window. It was a take-off of a Most Wanted poster, complete with photo and description of the "man who destroys restaurants."

It was pretty funny. I'm just curious -- does anyone know who's behind it?

I don't know anything about who did this. I can certainly understand the impulse. Posting Bauer's picture is not going to do anything for his already shaky objectivity, however.

Probably the owners. Its not new, its been up for years. Seems to be in only a few NB establishments. Frankly, I'd love to see it in a lot more.

A co-owner of Fior d'Italia was apparently the creator of the poster. Here's a quote from an article in San Francisco Magazine:

"Jim Bril, co-owner of Fior d'Italia, seems to be the angriest of all Bauer's critics, though Bauer has never reviewed his restaurant. Bril made 'Un-Wanted' posters calling him a 'butcher' and warning restaurants about his destructive behavior. 'He just does what he wants and ruins people's lives,' Bril says. 'If you're one of his cutesy little chefs, you're good. If not, you're screwed.'"
