Seems like there are a lot of reposrts that food and service is not as good during these restaurant weeks. I don't go out much so I don't want to waste a nice evening. Thanks.

I've never been during RW but the service at Delmonicos is always what you would expect from a NY steakhouse (gruff but cordial old men) except for the gorgeous bartender. Fraunces service is always nice, I can't see them changing this during RW - it's worth it to go to Fraunces for the history alone.

History is best for museums and reading the sign by the door if at FT. The food is horrible. While there is not a whole lot in that area, a 5-10 minute cab ride puts you within reach of far to many great places to mention. You only eat so many dinners, and fewer in 'going out mode' than that. With a budget on par with either you mentioned, you can do far far better.
