Have an important client coming to dinner from Japan and want to make sure we pick a good place to eat (money no object). He is a fun, outgoing guy and likes to drink so was thinking of trying to get him downtown. My thoughts were Craft, Babbo or Grammercy. Anybody been in this situation and have any other suggestions? Thank you.

As someone who has lived in Japan and worked for a Japanese company my entire career, I will second the statement, "Japanese love their steaks."
I cant recommend a good steak place unfortunately! But if you need to entertain a Japanese MALE client, a place with good steaks and beer is the route to go.

Hold on a second here!

"japanese love their steaks!!! i'd take him to sparks for the sirloin or the strip house for their ribeye."

First of all, what kind of comment is that? Do you think you just can stereotype all Japanese based off of some ignorant 80's movie cliché?

Secondly, I just recommended this exact same dining suggest yesterday and was censored for it. This really makes me wonder what exactly the agenda of www.chowhound.com is?

I would hate to think it is anything other than food lovers sharing thoughts on Manhattan's faire. However, this censorship is highly suspect.
