looking for a fun, different atmosphere for my bachelorette dinner about 8 ladies. not too expensive. good drinks, funky setting (cool booths, anything non-traditional trying to avoid the ho-hum sit down dinner).

You might want to consider Peep in SoHo. I've been twice. Pretty tasty thai food (don't get the emperor's dumpling, but the saffron mussel soup is enough for a meal and is delicious. The calamari starter is also good).

They have a list of fun drinks that actually taste good. In terms of gimmicks, they are another "crazy bathroom" restaurant. The walls of the bathroom are basically a one-way mirror (or is that two ways)? You can see into the restaurant, but they can't see you. It gets kind of loud, but you'll probably be a loud group anyway ;)

Prices are reasonable, too, if that's a concern.

Try Highline in the Meatpacking....same owners of Peep...inexpensive Thai food with great ambiance & upstairs has beds. Downstairs bar that looks very Clockwork Orange. Also near all the madness of Meatpacking that I usually hate but is fun for a bachelorette.
