FRESH tomato slices, tasty ricotta and garlic and spinach
Before tomato season ends I'd love to find such a pie in nyc. These are/used to be standard fare along the South Jersey shore.
I know that many pizza places serve a white pie but they usually seem and taste like an an afterthought.
The closest I've come so far is the Larry Tate at Two Boots. Nothing against Two Boots but their version is not quite right. not sure why but maybe it's the cornmeal in the crust.
Help me find my pie before another summer passes by. THANKS
I like the white pie at No 28 Carmine Street, but it's a more traditional white pie, ricotta, mozz, garlic. No tomato or spinach. Nice crust.
ok so another summer is almost about to come to an end and STILL I've yet to find my white pie w.fresh tomato sklices, spinach & garlic.
Here's hoping an overdue thread bump will result in some new thoughts or suggestions.
hate to say it, but Lombardi's has this. i haven't had their white pizza, but maybe it's what you're looking for.
In addition to Lombardi's, Ray's on Prince Street is supposed to have a good one.
Can't say I've tried either.
maybe too far from tradition for what you are looking for, but as of last week Motorino (East Village location) was running a summer special of heirloom tomatoes over a white pie.
no ricotta, garlic or spinach, but just delicious. beutifully charred crust, cheesey-olive-oily base and sliced heirloom tomatoes (green zebras and another red variety).
