In an extension of restaurant week Boulud still offers the $20 lunch, which cuts no corners. However, neither of us really liked the Thai melon soup and the pate was too bland for me (not for my partner). The scallops were superb, as was the pavlova. In many of these special menus a glass of wine costs almost as much as the meal. Boulud generously pairs a Loire rose with the menu for $20 a bottle! The only touchy spot was that the maitre d' sat me in the back facing the waiter's station. I objected and he moved me to a central seat with a great view and smiled warmly every time he passed by.
