Same gnocchi at Max SoHa uptown!!! I dream about it! :)

and, I see that the original reply has already mentioned Max SoHa as well. oops...my bad! sorry for not reading carefully!

                  • Hearth has good gnocchi as does Lupa. On a bit of a lower price point, I agree with Max and would also add Frank (2nd Ave/5th St). Isn't most gnocchi meatless?

I would second Frank's. I had a mediocre pasta dish (though not gnocchi) at Max's recently. Perhaps Frank's is more consistant? Just wondering. I like them both.

                        • I had the stinging nettle gnocchi a couple of months ago at Cacio e Pepe. Not sure what your range is, but the dish was $14.00 and it was delicious.

I agree. It's one of my favorite dishes ever.

                              • Hearth has a great version, simply prepared.

For a more decadent gnocchi, Il Bagatto has some heavily ladened with a gorgonzola sauce. Frank's gorgonzola and spinach is less heavy. To be honest, while it's great comfort food in the winter, I really can't imagine tucking into a plate in the NYC heat...

                                  1. Apizz's dish was wonderful, but it came w/a meat ragu.
I agree w/the recs below for cacio e pepe.

                                      1. If you like your gnocchi in gorgonzola, I would highly recommend Bianca, especially if you like your gorgonzola sharp. Da Andrea and Valdino West are also very good with a milder sauce. All these places are inexpensive and the gnocchi is homemeade.

                                          1. Max's gnocchis, like the actualy item were great, fresh and all charmingly irregular. The sauce tasted like Spaghetti-O's. I don't think they use much butter or olive oil either.

                                              1. i had an amazing dish of gnocchi at peasant a while back. it had pumpkin and wild mushrooms. probably more expensive than max's $9, but incredibly good and worth every penny (not to mention every calorie).

                                                  1. re: funkymonkey

Yes, I was looking for calories, fat, flavor and I walked out of Max's pouting.

                                                    • Has anyone seen gnocchi alla sorrentina in the city?
