I was totally enamored when I first moved to New York- it was small, cheap, and good. I've since realized the food ranges a lot. I do occasionally like it for brunch, especially getting the baguette with farmers cheese and jam. It's cheap, especially as it's BYO with no corkage. If you are in the neighborhood and need cheap with some ambiance, it's a good option. I would not make a special trip for it and there are some other good cheap options nearby. They also don't take reservations so if you go, have a back-up plan.

I agree with every word you say. The sweetness of the staff goes a long way to smooth over when there is a disappointment.

sweetness? really? I don't agree with this- the man who owns it is rather brusque, although the other server I had was very nice.
