Does anyone know what happened to Il Gelatone on 3rd avenue and 28th street. I went by yesterday and they're gone. Also, the little gelato shop - il Busalo (sp?) where they made a mean brioche with gelato is also gone. Are there any other good gelato places in NYC other than Il laboratorio?

Il Gelatone closed sometime last year. A total surprise. One day it was there. Then, suddenly -- gone! I really miss it. :-( The best other option in the vicinity is the soft ice cream at the Shake Shack. Seriously delicious!!

For gelato, we like Cones on Bleeker St, just east of 7th Ave. South. No brioches for stuffing, but a full range of flavors.
