Gael Greene in New York is raving about this place in the West 40s. I did a search and found nothing which surprised me since there are so many posts on everything related to BBQ. Has anyone tried this place?? I am assuming it just opened.

I haven't tried it, but it is a Heartland Brewery Restaurant. Presumably it is located where there used to be a Heartland ChopHouse on w.43rd.

What a coincidence, just got back from lunch there! Between Town Hall and Heartland Chophouse, pleasantly air-conditioned bilevel joint that looks a lot like Virgil's. Elvis pinball machine and foosball, as well as many tables, downstairs.

Had the St. Louis ribs; could not finish the whole rack. Dry rub, like Virgil's. Ends a little tough but inside meat very tender and pinkish (smoke effects? I'm from Boston and wouldn't recognize a smoke ring if it bit me on the nose). Cole slaw had an unpleasant buttermilk (?!) finish (I like it more vinegary). Onion straws were nicely salted as previously noted; came with a dipping sauce very much like the one they give you with the rings at BK!

Dined alone, so that's all I can say. Chicken wings sounded good; maybe next time...

I've been going since they opened - Darn good ribs, just like NY mag says.

BBQ chicken and pulled pork are also winners - I have not tried much else.

sides are hit or miss
