While walking along 1st last night, we noticed the very busy facade at Veniero's on 12th Street and decided to see what's keeping it busy.

The take-out bakery was extremely crowded and the very appealing display of fresh-looking pastries and cannolis didn't do much to keep us from getting a number from the dispenser and waiting with about 20 other people for a salesperson to call us for our order. While waiting, I scampered over to the coffee bar (reminded me so much of a decent coffee bar in Rome) and ordered a latte. Turned out to be a smart decision as this turned out to be one very good Italian-style coffee.

Our companion ordered the assorted pastries for about $9 per pound. There were about 12 small pastries and cannolis in the box. On our walk home, I picked the chocolate cannoli as my treat. It went very well with my coffee. It was delicious, not too sweet nor cloying, good and not too crispy wafer, and the almond-based filling melted in my mouth.

We saw the dine-in option inside Veniero's. Does anybody know if they serve breakfast?

They only serve beverages and pastry/ice cream in the restaurant area. I have a thing for their cappucino mousse cake, very satisfying indeed!
