As a MoMA employee, I gotta say, lots of our curators are big fans of Il Gattopardo, directly across from our 54th street entrance, between 5th & 6th. Good, reliable Italian and oh so close to the Museum!

Mid price-range, nice -- but do-able with a quiet infant in lap (this generally seems acceptable at lunch places but not dinner places), able to hear each other talk. I don't really know the group we are going with but I assume fairly conservative food-wise (i.e. nothing super "ethnic")

The Modern's Bar Room is indeed open for lunch. And it's nice.

An option in the neighborhood is La Grenouille.

That was the original plan. Unfortunately, the Bar Room is fully booked. We also thought of Aquavit (although it's slightly further afield) but it is not open for Sat lunch.
