Where to find Hominy and Chipolte Peppers on the East Side?

Hi.. I want to make posole, and can't find Goya hominy anywhere. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to find it? I know I can probably find it at Kitchen in Chelsea, but is there anywhere downtown?

I'm not positive but I feel like I've seen this at the Essex Market ... on Essex at Rivington in the LES. pretty sure I've seen posole there; positive I've seen chipotle peppers.

. in any case, this huge wonderful market is a great place for all kinds of Mexican foods even if you can't find what you're looking for this time!

You ought to be able to find hominy at lots of supermarkets in the east village or in LES bodegas. For instance, the groceries at Ave. B and 4th st and Ave. C and 11th St. probably both have it.

I've seen the dried kind more than the kind in a can, but I haven't really looked for it too much.

I think you're not looking hard enough. Don't know where you are on the east side, but I'd guess any C-Town or Key Food supermarket in East Harlem would have Goya brand canned hominy. Or a bodega.

If you're willing to go to Harlem, skip it and go to Tehuitzingo deli on 10th and 47th. I've bought canned chipotles there, and would expect them to have hominy.

You can also get a killer taco.

the Fairway in Harlem also has these things, both dried chipotle (sometimes both varieties) and canned as well as masa harina.
