cafe du soir

My wife and I lived in New York in the early 70's. Does anyone remember Cafe du Soir on 86th St. on the Upper East Side, Cheers on the west side just south of Times Square, or Georges Rey? We loved all three and still remember the wonderful food we ate there, especially a shrimp dish at Cafe du Soir. Any addresses and favorite dishes would be helpful.

You will be happy to know that "Cafe du Soir" is in existence but in the form of a restaurant called Le Rivage since 1983, my father after two years in retirement decided to reopen on restaurant row, I am now the chef there and pride myself on maintaining the old recipes and introducing them to a whole new generation!
Yours truly and hoping you will join us

I do remember Cafe du Soir, and very fondly. My friends and I had many lovely dinners there. I also recall an exquisite shrimp creation, but alas, I have no name in my data banks, which are now nearing a 70th year of flawless service Actually, the reason I respond to you is because I was going through a venerable old blue address book many years old, and one of the entries was for Cafe du Soir, 322 E, 86th St. and their phone was 289-9996. What a bizarre occurrence.
Enjoy this July 4th.
