open table

Just wanted to know if anyone has ever used open table to make reservations before and if it is reliable. Also -- any thoughts on the Biltmore Room -- too trendy????

Open Table is reliable in making reservations. However, there are several things to keep in mind. First, many restaurants don't list all their available tables/times on Open Table. Second, Open Table does charge the restaurant a fee for reservations made through them. Therefore, I often use Open Table as a screening to see what's available there and then call the restaurants directly.

Open Table has finally come to Canada. In Edmonton a few of the city's best restaurants have signed up. I used it for the first time today, for il Portico. A big improvement, since when I've tried booking through restaurants' own websites it almost never works!

I've used Open Table about 4 times now and had no problems. As for the Biltmore Room, we really liked it - it's kind of a "scene" but the food is great. Had wonderful foie gras

One reservation about using opentable is that there are often tables available if you call that are not made available online. Other than that, I've used it about 50 times so far, with no problems.

This has been my experience as well. I love open table, but if it says the restaurant is booked I always call.

I have had excellent results with opentable. They are particularly useful around holidays, quoting special menus and policies as well as links to restaurant websites to check menus. They make it easy to hop around link to link deciding where to go.

I have secured reservations through opentable after having been told by the restaurant that they had no tables available. I can't figure that one out, but it has happened a couple of times.

I have always had great service using opentable.

I've had just the opposite problem, but only with one restaurant in particular, so I know now to call them when they show no availability on OT. Otherwise, OT is a great service.

yes, i love opentable. had not used it for over a year or so, and had used it in nyc for brasserie, 11 madison park and some other places. this past weekend used it for morimoto in philly. great service, and no sense of getting "filler" seats or anything ...

I recently used Open Table, with excellent results. No fuss, no problems what so ever. They confirm your reservation. Would definately use them again!

Open Table is absolutely reliable. I've been using it for more than two years without a hitch. I have come to really like its ease of use; it's one heckuva lot better than trying to call, especially if your first (and sometimes second and even third) choices aren't available.

The Biltmore Room serves up very good food (Gary Robins is the chef and he is one talented guy). It is not busy in the early evening, so there are seats at the bar and you have your pick of seats in the dining room.

But it does fill up as the evening progresses. It is a striking room, but it does have drawbacks, the main one (in my opinion) being that all the marble doesn't absorb sound, so there's no such thing as a private conversation there.

However, I do think it worth a visit on the food alone.

Yes, opentable is reliable (I've used it many times). Biltmore room is trying to be very cool and service is a bit lacking. BUT, the food is quite good.

It's very reliable. I use it all the time and I've never had a problem. Have never been to the Biltmore Room.

Ditto on all the posts recommending opentable. I've been using it for a couple of years at work and at home. Reservations are always honored, restaurant list includes some top-notch places, and the bonus points come in handy on occasion.
