Just read an article on David Kinch in today's food section. His new restaurant sounds fantastic. Anybody has been?

Coincidentally I was just looking around for that. Here's a positive report from August.

Guess, I'm synched with you today. (g)

Would also mention that our late to the picnic paella chef, Robeo, raved about it and was on his way to a repeat visit that night. For as much as he loves Iberian cuisine (see his posts on Int'l board), that's a huge compliment.

We were there last week. We had two three course dinners and two four course dinners, which meant that four of us shared two desserts. We ordered the house choice of wine accompaniment. Several dishes were memorable. The tiny taste of soup (brocolli for the women, cauliflower for the men) was a lovely start. Some of the first courses were (surprisingly) a little salty, but the entrees were stunning. The sweetbreads and veal cheeks took best in show.

Desserts were great: quince souffle came hot to the table, and then the server broke open the middle and dropped in a scoop of unbelievable lemon ice cream. The other one we had was a fig tart with caramel-balsamic ice cream.

The kind of thing that makes Kinch so remarkable is in the details. At some point we were served a sliver of raw ahi garnished with apple-wasabi sorbet.

It took me some doing to go to Manresa -- I was a big fan of Sent Sovi until Kinch's partner's dog bit me. But my interest in food got the best of me, and I haven't a moment of regret. Of course, the credit card bill hasn't arrived yet . . . this is not an inexpensive experience.
