Hi Wendy
We did this last year and had the same question. We found ours at Tower Market in the city, following a tip from a helpful Chowhound who's name I forget. The price was somewhere around 15.99 Lb. I think. Good luck.

Wendy,

You can find Serrano Jamon at Viglizzo's Tower Market on Portola at Teresita in SF. The deli there carries all sorts of Spanish items. And check out the rest of the store -- great seafood, meats, poultry and lots of interesting grocery items. Oh, and a very good selection of fresh mushrooms, herbs, excellent produce. Lots of local artisan breads and cheeses, too.

Here's address and other info:

Tower Market probably has the best selection of Italian wines I have come across in S.F. and the whole Bay Area. Many varietals and brands that you do not see in any other wine shops. If any one knows of a better selection of Italian wines in the area, please let us know!

Have you checked out Emporio Rulli's selection? I haven't been to either Tower Market or Rulli for over a year so I can't offer a current direct comparison, but if you love Italian wine, I'm sure you'll enjoy browsing there. A particularly good selection of Italian dessert wines, which I guess makes sense for a bakery and candy store. (g) They were heavy on Venetos the last time I looked.
