I haven't been there but I have walked by many times and I'm dying to go. It's very old fashioned French - in decor, feel, and menu. I have no idea how good the food is, obviously. I would strongly suggest that you go look at it, and perhaps eat something there before you decide.

My boss (whose food opinions I trust implicitly) ate there last weekend & she raved about it. The menu isn't the feistiest, but it's classic & well-prepared & served with a smile. La Boeuf also happens to be one of the older restaurants in the city . . . so you'd be supporting a tasty bit of history.
