Hummus Place is IT

This is the best hummus I've ever had (not counting the ur-hummus ful spooned out by an old Palestinian man from a street stand on a tiny lane in the Old City 20 years ago).

Hummus Place only has three items (all hummus). The ful offers a swooningly delicious combination of hummus, ful, hard cooked egg, olive oil, tahini, paprika and parsley all discretely assembled in a shallow bowl, with a side of pickled onions and cukes and hot pepper, awaiting plunder by two perfectly warmed billowy rounds of real pita.

Nice Israeli juices or lemonade and Turkish coffee.

I've been to Hoomoos Asli many times and appreciate their varied menu and unusual condiments and authentic recipes. But the hummus lacked that certain deliciousness that Hummus Place has mastered. No need to go anywhere else for hummus from now on.

8th St. between 1st and A. Pretty great block for food.

      2. I've been meaning to try this place for some time--thanks for the report. Have you tried the hummus at Azuri (51st at 10th Ave)? Similar texture to Hoomos Asli's but many, many times tastier. I'll be curious to compare with the Hummus Place.

Wow! I tried Hummus Place on Amsterdam Ave tonight -- and I have to agree that this is the best Hummus and Falafel I have ever tasted! And very refreshing home made lemonade with fresh mint! I was picking up nova lox at Barney Greengrass for a brunch I'm having on Sunday -- and just stopped in Hummus Place by chance. What a wonderful find! This is the most authentic Israeli Hummus you could possibly find in NY. Perfection. And the Whole Wheat Pita tasted home made as well.

Apparently the city is going through some major changes :)

You're right! Upper West Side! Thanks for catching that!

No! Not too garlicky at all! For my taste - everything had just the right amount of seasoning.
