It's good, a 3-star. Menu changes with seasons, and I haven't been in a while. Desserts are not a strong point. Cheese cart is- save room.

Picholine serves Mediterranean cuisine. Chef Terrance Brennan's foie gras preps are delicious, and lamb dishes are first rate. I've had good desserts there but can't recall specifics.

Picholine has always been known for its cheese course, overseen by "fromager" Max McCalman. They've got a specially built "cheese cellar" to house their wide-ranging assortment. When you order, they provide you with a brochure that lists all their cheeses, and your selections will be checked off.

You can see the menu on menupages though, with the change of seasons, it may not be current.

I was there for dinner about a month ago and it was great, both food and service. I wish I remember what I ordered, but I don't. I do remember the cheese course, though. I highly recommend it.

I'm a fan of the restaurant. The cheese is definitely the high point, but even without, the sea urchin panna cotta, their foie gras apps, and their risottos are consistently good IMHO. I've also liked a number of their seafood dishes, but cannot recall enough specifics to be helpful. Never had anything BAD there. Other people I often dine with there (I don't eat much red meat) are big fans of their lamb chops.

The place is a bit staid, but very pretty. It runs a big crowd pre-concert/theater. I've found the service consistently excellent. Hope that helps!
